  • Peter is former associate director of NWCET, the Natioal Worlforce Center for Emerging Technologies. From 1998 to 2004 Peter helped shape the direction of the Center and brought many of its achievements into reality
  • Peter is a recognized expert in emerging technologies, skill standards, and technology education
  • Peter was associate dean of the technology programs and director of campus computing at Renton Technical College. In addition, Peter started the largest Autodesk Training Center in Washington state at Renton Tech, and wrote a grant that funded Renton's first-ever television production studio and electronic classroom
  • Pete has been a classroom teacher having taught courses in electronics technology and telecommunications at the community college level, and graduate level courses in education as a university adjunct.
  • Peter's background includes working as an applications engineer for two Fortune 500 electronics and telecommunications firms - Harris Corporation and GE
  • Peter is a graduate of Monroe Community College, which he credits for kinkling his lifelong passion for community colleges. He also holds a Bachelor of Science from Southern Illinios University, a Masters Degree from City University, and completed all but dissertation toward a Ed. D at Oregon State University
  • In the mid 1980s, Peter owned and operated a successful security and telecommunications business -- Technical Applications, Inc
  • Peter's career spans 35 years as technician, engineer, business owner, teacher, dean, CIO, publisher, producer, researcher, speaker, instructional designer and technology expert

 

 

Major contributions to the field:

  • Special advisor to National Skill Standards Board (NSSB) on Information Technology Skill Standards construction and definition
  • Co-authored major congressional report by National Academy of Science (NRC) on Information Technology workforce issues and national policy
  • Provided expert testimony to local and national government committees, congressional staffers, and elected representatives
  • Author of many successful grants to NSF, DOL, DOE
  • Expert curruculum and technology program designer for community colleges, National Office of Job Corps, and Cyber Careers
  • Developer and presenter of leadership training for faculty
  • Publsher and research director for the internationally renowned Skill Standards for Information Technology (NWCET)
  • Curriculum consultant to Cisco, Apple, Microsoft for skill standards compliance and instructional design
  • Developed and delivered numerous presentations on technology education and emerging technologies to educators at major venues and conferences
  • Serves on numerous National Visiting Committees (NVC) providing expert guidance and oversight to NSF funded projects in technology.
